Puppy Pre-School

Puppy Training begins the moment you bring your new puppy home, and we can help with that! Our Puppy Preschool is for puppies aged 8 -16 weeks and we like to have them in for their first class before the reach the 12 week mark. Our puppy pre-school classes will assist you in raising a well-mannered family pet. This class is geared toward teaching the owners how they can influence and shape the behavior of their growing puppy. Puppy pre-school is designed to teach owners to better understand their puppy’s needs, establish effective communication, curb behavior problems, and to show owners how to properly socialize their new puppy. Puppy pre-school is a 3 session course over 3-weeks, at The Prodigal Pooch. Each class is 1 hour long. Click here to book a consultation for Puppy Preschool.

Private Training Sessions

Our private training sessions are geared toward training YOU how to train your dog. Between each session, you are practicing the training with your dog, before we meet again and build on that training and teach you more. All of the commands covered in private training sessions are great for working in every day, real world situations and will teach your dog to have proper manners in every day public situations. Private, One-on-One Lessons are held at The Prodigal Pooch and each session is 1 hour long. Private Training sessions do not include the cost of additional training tools necessary for success. Resident Training Programs

Resident training programs give dogs and their owners the most superior results because our professional trainers do all of the heavy lifting with the training of your dog. Whether you are going away on vacation, too busy to train your dog, or you’re not interested in doing the heavy lifting in training your dog... resident programs are for you. These programs last either 12 or 19 days.

If you are looking for superior results, resident programs are your best option. Upon completion of your dog’s residency program you and your family will be trained how to use and enjoy the results of training with follow-up sessions held at The Prodigal Pooch. You will learn all of the commands covered during their program, the training tools, and techniques so you can maintain your new dog’s manners for the rest of your life! Each program is customized for you and your dog’s specific needs. Start with a consultation to determine what type of training is best for your situation. All prices include boarding, training, training tools, and exercise as well as private follow-up sessions to learn how to maintain your dog’s new behaviors. Dogs must be at least 5 months old to enroll in resident training.

Boarding

At The Prodigal Pooch, we believe that a well-balanced and happy dog is one with a structured routine. This includes time for both physical and mental exercise. It is important to remain consistent with the rules and boundaries that were created for them during their training with us.

There is a big difference between a dog kennel or boarding facility and the service we offer at The Prodigal Pooch. The Prodigal Pooch is not a traditional boarding facility. Our boarding clients are those who have taken part in one of our Resident Training programs. While your dog is with us we reinforce the structured lifestyle that they learned when they were previously with us for their training program.

Pricing for Boarding:

Standard Boarding: $75 per night

Advanced Boarding: $100 per night

Each “Night” begins at 5pm. Pickups after 5pm will be charged for the night.

What to Expect

We offer the benefit of all of these services when your dog boards with The Prodigal Pooch.

  • Individualized love and attention

  • Small groups of dogs (no more than 5 dogs boarding at a time)

  • Structured walks and free time

  • “Good” behavior and commands learned in previous training will be reinforced

  • “Bad” manners and behaviors will never be reinforced

Standard Boarding

Your dog will be carefully cared for by The Prodigal Pooch team.

  • We will use the training tools and commands with your dog that were taught in their Resident Training. While they will not receive individual training sessions, their Training will be reinforced

  • No bad behaviors will be reinforced like they could be in other boarding situations

  • We have a maximum of 5 dogs that can board at once, so please schedule in advance to guarantee your spot

Advanced Boarding

Does your dog need a training brush up or refresher? Then this is for you.

  • This type of boarding is most similar to dogs in our Resident Training Programs

  • Your dog will receive training sessions daily like they did in their Resident Training Program. They won’t learn new commands during their Advanced Boarding, but we will maintain and practice all of the commands that they were originally taught by The Prodigal Pooch

  • Advanced Boarding is based on our Resident Training availability

Boarding Policies

All dogs must be in good health and current on vaccines prior to boarding The Prodigal Pooch. The Prodigal Pooch requires the following vaccines:

  • Rabies

  • Distemper (DAPP)

  • Bordetella Vaccine

A negative stool sample is also required within the 30 days of their boarding. A go home bath can be added on to the end of their boarding for an extra $25. Please let us know if you would like one! Payment is by the night. If you pick up your dog after 5pm on the day your dog is to go home, you will be charged for the night.

Cancellation Policies

  • Because our boarding capacity is limited, any reservations that are cancelled with less than 1 week notice will be charged 50% of the original stay

  • Holiday Policy - Because Holidays are an incredibly popular time for boarding, we must receive 2 weeks notice for cancellations, or you will be charged the full amount of stay

You can reach out by phone or email to sign up for boarding at The Prodigal Pooch!
